TSUE IRC Policy Information

Hours & Access

  • IRC hours: 09:00–22:00 (exam/holiday schedules posted on IRC webpages).
  • Access requires a valid TSUE ID (and passport/ID for visitors where applicable).
  • Some areas (Discussion Rooms, Silent Spaces) require prior booking.

Software & Computers

  • Do not install or download software on IRC computers. Unauthorised changes may result in loss of privileges.

Food, Drink & Cleanliness

  • Food and drink are not permitted in reading rooms, computer labs, or near equipment unless explicitly designated.
  • Keep study spaces clean; report spills immediately.

Printing & Scanning

  • IRC workstations print to designated campus printers; current rates and locations are posted in-lab and online.
  • Large-volume or speciality printing (e.g., colour, duplex, A3) may be limited to specific devices.
  • Self-service scanners are available; observe copyright limits.

Saving Your Work

  • Do not save files on lab desktops. Use personal storage (USB drive) or cloud services.
  • IRC systems are routinely cleared; unsaved work cannot be recovered.

Staff Support

  • IRC staff provide troubleshooting, resource guidance, database/search help, and referrals.
  • Staff do not complete coursework, projects, or provide software training beyond basic use.

Noise, Phones & Etiquette

  • Set phones to silent; take calls outside study areas.
  • Keep voices low; use group rooms for collaborative work.
  • Headphones are required for audio; keep volume at a level that does not disturb others.

Animals

  • Animals or pets are not permitted in IRC facilities.

Care of Facilities & Equipment

  • Do not alter, unplug, or relocate equipment.
  • Do not write on desks, walls, or furniture. Damage or defacement will be reported and may result in disciplinary action and loss of privileges.

Borrowing & Returns (Print Collections)

  • Standard student loan: 10 days, renewable twice for 10 days each if no holds exist.
  • High-demand items and course reserves may have shorter loan periods.
  • Users are responsible for due dates, recalls, and the replacement or cost of lost/damaged items.

Electronic Resources & Licensing

  • E-resources (e.g., IRBIS64+, https://ebook.tsue.uz/public/ , UniLibrary, EBSCO, ProQuest, Springer, Elsevier) are for non-commercial academic use.
  • Do not share credentials, mass-download content, or redistribute licensed materials.

Privacy & Data

  • The IRC protects user confidentiality (identifiers, circulation, access logs) and retains data only as needed to deliver services and meet legal obligations.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

  • If TSUE does not hold an item, the IRC will request it from partner institutions (national/international), subject to availability and copyright/lender restrictions.

Lost & Found

  • A Lost and Found is maintained at the service desk. Ask staff to check for missing items.

Compliance

  • All users must follow TSUE regulations, IT/network policies, copyright law, and posted IRC rules.
  • Non-compliance may result in temporary suspension of privileges, fines, and/or university disciplinary action.
